confessions, 2008

The video consists of a single voiceover reciting a list of anonymous confessions found on the internet, coupled with a video that shows the scrolling down of a long page of hypertext markup language (html). The confessions cover a broad spectrum, ranging from the banal and generic, to the humorous and perverse, and to the disturbing and absurd. The anonymity of the internet has revolutionized both the way information is disclosed and distributed, and the kind of information that is disclosed, substantiating a 'forced extroversion of the interior' through communication, as Baudrillard argued.
